South Colonie Families Celebrate 2nd Annual Hispanic Heritage Celebration Night

South Colonie middle school families gathered for the second annual Hispanic Heritage Celebration Night on Friday, October 23.
This event celebrates the cultures and traditions of Hispanic and Latin American countries, bringing together families from both Lisha Kill and Sand Creek Middle Schools. Throughout the evening, students, staff and family members could try traditional foods, learn dances, make crafts and more.
"We are so fortunate to have a vibrant and growing Latino community in South Colonie,” said April Mlambi, ENL teacher and DEI Coordinator. “Our Hispanic Heritage Celebration Night was a great opportunity to celebrate them while offering all of our community members the chance to experience Latin cultures and traditions. I am grateful to all of the families who came out to celebrate on Friday night, especially those who brought contributions to our potluck table and those who were brave enough to get out on the dance floor to learn some salsa moves!"
On April 9, 2027, South Colonie Central School District will host its biannual Multicultural Festival at Colonie Central High School. The Multicultural Festival schowcases our school community’s diversity with cultural booths, performances, food, and interactive experiences.
