Shaker Road Elementary Earns Colonie Center School Bucks Prize

Shaker Road Elementary School is one of several Capital Region schools to benefit from Colonie Center’s annual School Bucks Contest.
The Colonie Center School Bucks Program lets families and friends support their school by submitting shopping and dining receipts from Colonie Center, earning 2 points for every $1 spent. At the end of the program, the 10 schools with the most points win cash prizes ranging from $500 to $8,000. Shaker Road was entered into the contest by the PTA and earned $1,000 this year.
“We have been participating in the Colonie Center School Bucks opportunity since its inception,” said Shaker Road Principal Bill Dollard. “It is a PTA endeavor and it is one of the ways that they support our Weekend Backpacks Food Closet effort. That kind of support helps to ensure that we can include Stewart's cards good for a dozen eggs and a gallon of milk each week.”
In addition to this exciting school win, Principal Dollard also commended the PTA for their other fundraising efforts throughout the year that benefit the Shaker Road school community.
