Eligible Students Register to Vote with League of Women Voters

In an annual effort to get students involved in their local elections, the League of Women Voters visited Colonie Central High School this week. Group members helped students register to vote and taught them about the voting process.

Volunteers guided students through the registration forms, explained local ballot structures, and emphasized how local government decisions directly impact their daily lives.
"Today is all about teaching our students that their voice actually carries weight in local government," said Social Studies Department Coordinator and teacher Erin Lasky. "This activity helps empower our students to step up and actively participate in their community."
The League of Women Voters members take the registration forms directly to the Board of Elections for students, making the process that much more accessible.
