ADAPT Workshop Helps Students Build Understanding and Inclusion

Colonie Central High School’s No Place for Hate group welcomed Bring on the Spectrum (BOTS) this week for their Actions to Draw All People Together (ADAPT) workshop
During this interactive and informative session, students gained insight into what it can feel like to be neurodivergent through hands-on activities and discussion. The workshop also encouraged students to think about practical ways they can support neurodivergent peers both in school and throughout the community.
“Presentations like this help further the school’s commitment to building a supportive and inclusive community for all students,” said Kristen Zepf, No Place for Hate advisor.
BOTS was also recently featured in the schoolwide Resilience video alongside Rae Frasier. The video was created through a collaboration between Associate Principal Tess McCarthy, ICARE (Integrity, Community, Accountability, Respect), No Place for Hate, and Wolf Pack Productions, highlighting messages of understanding, empathy, and inclusion.
BOTS will return to the high school in April to lead additional ADAPT workshops with other student groups, and they are scheduled to present at a schoolwide assembly in May.
